Introduction

This documentation offers comprehensive details on using and developing applications on our Opera chain, as well as detailed information about our upcoming Sonic chain and its S token.

We rebranded to Sonic Labs on August 1, 2024. Previously, our company was called "Fantom Foundation" and our Opera chain was referred to as "Fantom".

Any mentions or namings of Fantom in this documentation or elsewhere refer to our current Opera chain. Opera's native token, FTM, derives its name from our old name, Fantom.

Opera

Opera is our current blockchain and smart contract platform that provides developers with exceptional scalability and storage capabilities, while delivering a fast and seamless experience for users. Its native token is FTM.

The majority of this documentation aims to help users learn more about Opera and guide developers on building applications on the chain. Bridge assets to Opera to get started.

Sonic

Sonic is our new, upcoming layer-1 platform with a secure gateway to Ethereum and provides the fastest settlement layer for digital assets with over 10,000 TPS and complete, one-second confirmation times. The ecosystem will be supported by a massive incentive program.

The launch of Sonic is scheduled for November/December 2024.

Sonic Labs

Our business entity responsible for driving growth among apps, partnerships, and users. Publicly, we engage with our community under the Sonic Labs brand.

Sonic Foundation

Our business entity responsible for our networks’ governance and treasury management functions. Essentially, it acts as the backbone of our operations.
